We don’t quite know at what point the Earth’s molten interior becomes “LAVA”. Lukas Lonski doesn’t (anymore) either. But he is fascinated by the glowing, liquid state of rock. It’s a metaphor — a simple analogy for what he seeks in sound: warmth, space, gravity, flow. An arrangement of different forces. Dark light. A hot core within a cold environment.
Staring into the fire. Watching the last remnants of organic matter release their final flames and slowly — always too slowly — fade into embers. In 2026, ambient music offers us an option to respond to the world with a soundtrack. Not animation for action, but pause, gather, glow.
From the sounds of an old Korg PolySix, an analog Moog delay, a Tanzbär drum machine, a touch of spring reverb, one or two cymbals, a guitar, an old double bass, fragments of his voice, and other devices — these are the ingredients for Lukas Lonski’s five pieces LAVA. Flow & omnipotence. Destruction & the preparation of ground for something new.
