‘Le jazz homme’ pursues Richter’s initial forays under the Mouchoir Étanche (trans: waterproof Handkerchief) pseudonym in 2020 with a 2nd LP to fray one’s sanity. Eerie music box miniatures share space with what sounds like vintage cinematic string cues, steampunk surrealism, and dream extracts, drifting into 4th world percussion pieces adjacent Hassell and Spencer Clark, and atmospheric noir. In other hands this could be a mess but Richter’s cool head for uncanny valley psychedelia is firmly in control.
